Clint Eastwood’s Gran Torino
Starring Clint Eastwood, Christopher Carley and Bee Vang
The movie starts off with Eastwood’s character who is a Korean war vet is laying to rest his beloved wife. Right from the start of the movie you get that he is somewhat of a racist. Eastwood lives next door to a Korean family who he doesn’t like. The teenage son of the neighbors is convinced by a gang to steal Eastwood’s prize possession his 1972 Gran Torino for his initiation and is caught red handed.
When the mother of the teenage boy makes him work for Eastwood to make up for his wrong doing, Eastwood’s feelings for the family start to change and he begins to get very protective of them. As the movie progresses Eastwood becomes more and more involved with his neighbors taking the boy under his wing and teaching him how to become a man. Meanwhile the Korean family is constantly being harrassed by the gang and Eastwood feels the need to protect them which escalates to a heart wrenching finale.
The first hour of the movie is so boring I was actually going to turn it off, thinking is anything exciting going to happen. Although Clint Eastwood did a good acting job there is little to say about the rest of the cast. I was surprised to find out that Eastwood produced and directed this film, for him to be associated with such garbage is beyond me. The whole movie is so predictable and the characters are all lifeless. I am very disappointed with the movie and as far as the title goes, it should of been called CRAP.
My rating is a 3 and that is only because of Clint Eastwood’s performance.
