Blindness

Published by chris6818 under Drama, Mystery, Thriller Edit This

Starring: Julianna Moore, Mark Ruffalo, Alice Braga, Joe Pingue and Danny Glover

The movie is about a city that is devastated with a widely spreading outbreak in which one by one people begin to go blind seeing whiteness. As more and more of the population becomes infected they are placed under quarentine in an abandoned warehouse.

I want to start off by saying that Julianna Moore carried this film, her superb acting and portrayal of her character was one of the only good things about this movie. I understand the plot of the movie showing us examples of racism, materialism and capitalism but the movie had too many scenes that were just ridiculous and boring. The storyline never gives us any insight on how when or why this virus or plague came about and by the end of the movie still no clue on what just took place.

There were a few scenes that I found rather disturbing and I advise not taking any children to see this movie. My final thoughts are that the movie had great premise but regrettably it failed to deliver. The DVD will be released on February 10th, my opinion save your money, a complete waste of time. My rating is a 3.

New In Town

Published by chris6818 under Comedy, Romance Edit This

Starring: Renee Zellweger, Harry Connick Jr., Hilary Carroll, Nancy Drake and Wayne Nicklas

The story is about a woman who is an executive for a business in Miami that is sent to a town in Minnesota to manage the restructuring of a local blue collar manufacturing plant. While there she encounters some difficult decisions that will affect the whole town and is helped to adjust by a Union representative who ends up giving her more than advice on work related issues.

I enjoyed this movie, not to sentimentally inferior but I found it to be a very heartwarming and cute romantic comedy. Zellweger and Connick did an admiral job and they had an impressive connection. The film has its funny moments and also very touching ones at times. The whole movie was very predictable in knowing exactly what would happen next and how the movie would play out. Despite that if you enjoy a good romance story with a touch of humor than you will enjoy this movie. I give it a rating of a 6.

Notorious

Published by chris6818 under Biography, Drama, Musical Edit This

Starring: Jamal Woolard, Mohamed Dione, Derek Luke, Dennis LA White, Marc John Jefferies, Christopher Jordan Wallace and Angela Bassett

The story is the biography of the rap artist know as Notorious B.I.G. aka Biggie Smalls. The life and death of a man from Brooklyn who broke into the music business with his rapping hip hop style.

Although I do like some rap songs and some hip hop, I am not really a fan of that genre of music but I really enjoyed this film. It was really interesting to find out that even though his life was filled with hardship, bad behavior and danger his joy was focused on not only making it big in the music industry but being a good father, son and in general a better person.

The acting from Christopher Jordan Wallace who played Biggie from the ages of 8 to 13 and Jamal Woolard who played him as an adult was truly a stellar performance. Angela Bassett who played his mother was amazing in the way she portrayed being such a strict parent but also a very loving one. The movie was based on interviews and facts of Biggie’s life, depicting not only the bad side of him, but makes us understand just how much of a big heart that he truly had.

The movie does not answer the question of who shot and killed Biggie, to this day his murder is unsolved,  but dwells in the realm of aspirations and the difficult times in which comes a successful recital of one man’s brief time but widely impressionable life.
