Body Of Lies
Starring: Russell Crowe, Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Strong and Golshifteh Farahani
DiCaprio plays a CIA operative who is trying to gather information on an Islamic terrorist cell to try and get to the leader who is blowing up public places all over the world. Under the direction of his arrogant and egotistical boss Crowe who is giving his orders from a desk in America and can follow his every move through satilite imagery.
DiCaprio comes up with a plan to fabricate a decoy terrorist organization and launch a major phony attack on an american base to nab the highly wanted leader who has faded off of everyone’s radar and all the while trying to sustain a love interest (Farahani) with a nurse that he met.
I thought this movie was very suspenseful, entertaining and thought provoking. DiCaprio makes his frustrated action hero character very convincing. Crowe had to put 50lbs on for this movie role in which he barely had any screen time. There was plenty of violence and a torture scene that gave me a sick feeling in my stomach. The subject matter was very intense and incredibly deep with an intricate plot of trust and betrayal. All in all I enjoyed this movie and it makes me think that the war on terror is not that simple as the politicians and the terrorists make it out to be. My rating is a 7.
