Mamma Mia

Published by chris6818 at 1:19 am under Comedy, Musical, Romance Edit This

Starring: Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Collin Firth, Stellan Skarsgard, Amanda Seyfried and Julie Walters

The story is about a girl who is trying to figure out the identity of her real father before she gets married. She invites 3 men all of which could be her father to her wedding without telling her mother. The film is set on a greek island and they sing and dance to the music of Abba.

I grew up to and love the music of Abba. Dancing Queen is my favorite song that they do. After watching the preview for the movie and hearing that song in it, I wanted to watch the movie for that reason. Meryl Streep did an exceptional job. We all know that she is an outstanding actress but who knew she had it in her for singing and dancing and Amanda Seyfried was wonderful too. She can really sing good. As for the rest of the cast they all played their characters very well, but they really can’t sing. Poor Pierce Brosnan, I have to hand it to him though he gave it his all singing his heart out, even though it was aweful. I still love him as an actor (god he is sexy).

I thought this movie was a very enjoyable musical, it was entertaining and some of the scenes were beautiful. No blood and guts or violence just a fun movie. My rating is a 6.

I have seen the stage show and the film twice. The biggest grossing film in the UK. Meryl excellent - see it and give up cynicism for a while. I say this in the knowledge of being one for 40 years or so.

Just one issue - I have been several times to the Greek Islands featured. Keep away leave them to us! (lol)
