21 The Movie

Published by chris6818 at 11:31 am under Drama Edit This

Starring: Kevin Spacey. Jim Sturgess, Kate Boswor and Laurence Fishburne

The story is about a boy who is going to MIT but wants to transfer to Harvard Medical School to be a medical doctor but when he realizes that he cannot afford it he gets involved with a Shady professor and some other students who are being taught how to become card counters playing blackjack.

I was interested in seeing this movie because blackjack is one of my favorite games to play when I go to the casino and I always wanted to learn how to count cards. I was actually kicked out of a Mississippi casino about 10 years ago because a pit boss thought that I was counting cards, to this day still I don’t understand why he thought that.

Kevin Spacey who in my opinion is a wonderful actor did not give his full potential in this movie. Laurence Fishburne was okay but Jim Sturgess who I had never heard of before this movie did an outstanding job in his role and made be believe his character.

On a whole the movie was somewhat interesting. I could not figure out though how a MIT professor who in his past was banned from casinos for being a card hustler could still have his teaching job. Also out of all the casinos in Las Vegas it seemed like they kept hitting up the same ones. The movie is supposedly based on a true story and I found it sometimes to be a little boring and repetitive but there was some suspense and unexpected twists so I give this movie a rating of a 5.
