Defiance

Published by chris6818 at 12:21 am under Drama, War Edit This

Starring Daniel Craig, Liev Schreiber, Jamie Bell and Alexa Davalos

The story is somewhat based on historical events of WWII.  Three Jewish brothers who escaped Poland during the war who flee to a forest where they unexpectedly meet with many other refugees. The brothers decide to build a village in the forest to shelter the growing number of Jews who are fleeing Poland.

Daniel Craig and Liev Schreiber gave terrific performances. I found this movie to be heavily dramatic for a relatively simple story of men battling and protecting people who were in trouble. The movie was kind of slow in spots but very powerful and a lesson in history, the telling of a hardship and the strength of a race of people that others wanted to annihilate.

A moving and powerful story unlike any other war movie with important morals. I give it a rating of a 6.

Review was dead on. Good movie but a bit slow. Worth seeing.
