Inkheart
Starring: Brendan Fraser, Sienna Guillory, Eliza Bennett, and Richard Strange
The movie is about a father who has the ability to read from books and bring the characters into the real world. The drawback to this is as one character comes into the world someone from the real world must go into the story. When his daughter was very young he was reading the story of Inkheart to her and somehow her mother disappeared. Now years later the father hopes to read his wife back into the real world.
I found this movie to be somewhat enjoyable. I think Brendan Fraser was perfect for the role and I was very surprised at the young actress Eliza Bennett, she played Fraser’s daughter her performance was amazing and she really shows promise. The special effects are truly what makes the movie. It was very Walt Disney like and children will find this movie very entertaining.
I thought the plot was a little underdeveloped and some of the characters were unneccesarily complicated. Overall I give this movie a rating of a 4. I heard that the book was more enjoyable.
I’ve been eyeing the books, wondering if I want to read them… but the fact that there’s a movie out totally slipped past me. Doesn’t augur too well for it, methinks! But now I’m torn, should I get the DVD to get a feel for the tale, or should I get the book because I know in general the book is always better than the movie… !
The movie itself sounds interesting but it also sounds like they could be doing so much more with it. I might check this one out on DVD.
