Frost/Nixon (5 Oscar Nominations)
Starring: Frank Langella, Michael Sheen, Sam Rockwell, Kevin Bacon, Oliver Platt, Rebecca Hall and Patty McCormack
Well tonight is the big night for the Oscar’s and this movie has received 5 nominations including best picture and Frank Langella for best actor in a leading role. I am not to sure that Langella will actually win the Oscar, he is up against some stiff competition.
The movie is about the interviews that David Frost did with Richard Nixon 3 years after Nixon was forced out of office due to Watergate.
Ron Howard directed this film and did an outstanding job. Frank Langella playing Nixon and Michael Sheen as David Frost are incredible, I think they hit the nail on the head when casting their roles. I was so enthralled with the actors that for a moment I actually thought I was watching the real Nixon and David Frost. I was a teenager in 1974 and vaguely remember too much about Watergate. I do in fact though remember Nixon’s resignation speech but as far as any interviews that he had done I knew nothing about them until watching this movie.
A great piece of history in this suspenseful and interesting account of the interviews with Nixon. Truly spectacular performances all around. Nixon was paid a substantial amount of money to do these interviews so was he merely performing or was he being straightforward and honest? You decide, I highly recommend this film and give it a rating of a 8.
