Duplicity (Now Playing w/ Julia Roberts & Clive Owen)
Starring: Tom Wilkinson, Paul Giamatti, Dan Daily, Lisa Roberts Gillan, David Shumbris, Clive Owen and Julia Roberts
Roberts and Owens together again in this romantic crime thriller as two secret agents who in the past had a steamy affair and are now working together with a master plan trying to extort 40 million dollars pitting 2 corporations against each other in lieu of a new product. A job of corporate espionage, playing both sides and ultimately trying to sell a secret and retire.
I found this movie to be quite boring and a little bit hard to follow. Lots of back and forth flashbacks made it a little hard to keep up with the plot. Julia Roberts and Clive Owen definitlely had some chemistry and there were a few moments that were a bit funny. What the movie is lacking was some character depth, I never really understood what Julia and Clive were all about. Most of the movie was so predictable with all the twists and the scripts were dull and lacking wit.
The ending was a bit of a disappointment, in fact the whole film was a let down. There were a few good scenes and the supporting cast held their own. Julia Roberts being one of my favorite actressess I thought did okay with what she was given but for the most part the movie made little sense and left too many loose ends. My rating is a 5.
