Sorrow Hill (Available On DVD March 13th)

Published by chris6818 under Gore Flicks, Horror Edit This

Grindhouse pictures presents Sorrow Hill which will be released on DVD on March 13th.

This is a story about an insane asylum and the crazed raving lunatic doctor who runs the place. When some teenagers stumble upon the institution they get a little more than they bargained for.

Most of you probably never heard of Grindhouse pictures or the soon to be released movie Sorrow Hill. Yes it is a B type horror film with a very low budget and going straight to DVD. The reason I am telling everyone about this movie is because I have a small part in it as one of the crazed lunatic inmates that resides in the asylum. Yes it is a very small part with no speaking (Lots of screaming lol) and you will only see me in a couple shots for a few seconds.

My brother who was the sound editor was the one who told me about the film and asked if I wanted to be an extra. Of course I said yes, this was my big chance to break into the movie industry (lol just a joke). The reason being I was very curious to see just how things are really done when making a movie. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I was covered in tar with my hair all teased out and just wearing a hospital gown. My role was to look like I had been locked up for years and was stone cold demented! Screaming and hammering away on the chain linked cages that were keeping myself and all the other loonies locked up. All of us crazies break free and wander the halls of the asylum and viciously attack each other and some of the teenagers in the film. I could of had more screen time and been in one of the scenes where the crazies are attacking one another but I opted to be out because of the physical contact and with me not knowing any of the extra’s I felt awkward touching and beating all over them. I know, my lose at becoming an Oscar performing winner!! Just to witness how everything is put together and how many takes they have to go through to get the perfectly executed shot was fulfilling enough for me.

The location for the filming of the institution was at the old broken down Atlantic City Race Course in NJ. I was amazed at all the rooms there were inside and just how really creepy it was filming in there. When we were in the cages it was so dark and stuffy with so much dust getting into my throat. Seeing the actors made up with all the blood and gore and in that dark creepy dirty place made for a really scary and chilling experience. The actor who plays the killer I have to say was perfect for the role. He is a huge man, bald head and really has the look of a psychotic madman. (His look terrified me!) Me being a fan of the horror movie genre made it quite pleasing to be a part of this film.

I am really anxious to see the final product. I know this film won’t win any Academy Awards or have any Oscar nominations for best actors but my experience and participation has been very rewarding.

$22.99 Freddy Kreuger DVD Boxed Set

Published by chris6818 under Gore Flicks, Horror Edit This

While I was browsing the internet for some christmas gifts I came upon this incredible deal that I thought I would let you all know about. The Boxed set of Nightmare on Elm Street all 8 movies on dvd widescreen format for the amazing price of only $22.99. I am purchasing a set for my son and since it is such an amazing price I am buying a set for myself also. I loved these movies with Robert Englund playing the role of Freddy the one with the glove of razor blades who terrorizes and kills youngsters in their sleep.

I really liked all of the movies in the set but my favorite was the first one. If you don’t know anything about the movie, I will give you a brief description. Freddy Kreuger was a child killer and a bunch of the parents of the children who got murdered got together, found Freddy and set fire to him.  After that the only way Freddy could get you was through your dreams. So whatever you do DON’T FALL  ASLEEP.

I think that is my favorite line in all of the movies so I am going to use it now. Don’t fall asleep and miss out on this deal, you’ll be sorry! Copy and paste this web address into your browser ( http://www.amazon.com/Nightmare-Elm-Street-Collection/dp/0780626966/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1228968206&sr=8-1 ) to get this in time for Christmas, any horror movie fan would love it!

Saw 5

Published by chris6818 under Gore Flicks, Horror Edit This

Starring Tobin Bell and Costas Mandylor

The movie starts off where the fourth one ended where Jigsaw met his demise. One of the detectives that followed the case all along was viewed as a hero and awarded, while the other detective that had been following the case is tested and puts the pieces together that the hero was working with Jigsaw all along after the death of his sister. As he is rumaging through all of the old files there are flashbacks of all the previous Saw episodes, which I found to be good to refresh my memory.

As all of this is going on 5 seemingly unconnected people face a horrible lesson about teamwork. Some of the scenes are very gory and we eventually learn how the 5 people are connected. The 2 detectives circle each other until it boils down to a gruesome and bone-crushing finale.

The ending was quite a bit of a shock to me and it kind of leads me to believe that there will be another movie. I heard alot about this movie before watching it and didn’t think it was going to be very good but I actually enjoyed watching it. It held my intention throughout the whole movie. On a scale between 1 and 10 with 1 being the lowest and 10 being great, I would rank this movie a 7.
