Valkyrie
Starring: Tom Cruise, Kenneth Branagh, Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkinson and Carice van Houton
The movie is based on actual events that took place in WWII where a plot to assassinate Hitler is disclosed.
Much to my surprise after a slow start I actually enjoyed this movie and was glued to my seat. Tom Cruise played his character very well and in fact all of the supporting actors also deserve credit for their incredible roles. It is truly a story of a one man in pursuit of aggressive nationalist policies and men that were willing to stand up for what is right in the face of intimidating odds.
This movie was an entertaining attempt to retell a fascinating moment in history and even though we know the outcome (that is if you know your history) there is enough suspense built up that for a brief few moments I felt that these men would actually succeed in their mission. Also it was pleasantly refreshing to know that during this time period there were Germans that didn’t follow Hitler.
Overall a very enjoyable film and a lesson in history one of a very brave man who saw true evil and decided to try and do something about it. My rating is a 7.
